Violence. Passion. Betrayal. Money. It's that old noir story again: Femme fatale Violet snookers smitten Corky with a criminal past into a twisty-turny robbery that will make them both rich, if only they can trust one another long enough to pull it off. The twist: It's femmie femme fatale Violet (Jennifer Tilly) and butch Corky (Gina Gershon) ganging up on volatile mob money launderer Caesar (Joe Pantoliano), who can't believe his live-in sex toy would do this to him for another girl. The result is flashy -- first-time directors Larry and Andy Wachowski never miss an opportunity to show us red, red drops of blood against brilliant white -- but pretty good fun, especially if the thought of Tilly in a succession of thigh-high bandage dresses makes you sweat. leave a comment
