In WW I London, American nurse Bennett and fighter pilot McCrea meet and fall in love. Soon the pair take up housekeeping and conceive a child. Then one day McCrea doesn't return from a mission; shortly thereafter, Bennett gives birth. After a time she accepts a proposal of marriage from disabled British officer Cavanagh, but then McCrea reappears and Bennett rushes to her true love. Cavanagh sues for divorce and wins custody of the child, who promptly dies. Bennett finds solace in McCrea's arms in this maudlin tearjerker, designed for female audiences. leave a comment
