Shot on location in a pseudo-documentary style, this heartwarming true-story chronicles the efforts of Joy Adamson (Virginia McKenna) and her husband, George (Bill Travers), a game warden in Kenya, to adopt a slain lioness' cubs. One, Elsa, is raised to adulthood and becomes a primary fixture in the couple's life, until the Adamsons realize that it's nearly impossible to keep an enormous, potentially dangerous lioness as a house pet.
