Good though melodramatic story of American flyers in the RAF during WW I. Commanding officer MacLaren demands that the German observation balloons near the front be blown up, a dangerous mission since the balloonists are equipped with machine guns. Bogart makes a daredevil attempt to destroy a balloon and is killed in the process, but Farrell does the job and credits his slain pal with the deed. On leave in England, Farrell tries to find Bogart's widow through a series of letters Bogart had received written by someone signing the name "Pom-Pom."
