THE BOBO was a bungle from start to finish. Sellers plays a half-baked torero who would like to be a singer. Ekland (his wife in real life at the time) is an underage girl who gives gold diggers a bad name. Sellers has three days to seduce her in order to get a contract to sing for a week at a place owned by Celi (who delivers one of the best performances of his career). Ekland is vicious as she dumps Sellers into some indelible dye after she learns that he was only after her to get the singing job. A hodge-podge that's only made bearable by Sellers' cavorting. In a small role is the usually tough Al Lettieri who went on to become a successful second banana gangster in THE GODFATHER and THE GETAWAY. Music by Francis Lai is properly jaunty. leave a comment
