Three small-town women--Crawford, Page, and Sebastian--share an apartment and work as department store mannequins in a large city. Page and Sebastian, tired of their drab existence, decide to find suitors but end up making unwise choices. Page eventually commits suicide, and Sebastian
finds herself in trouble with the law. Only Crawford keeps her head above water by rejecting the advances of the store owner's son, Montgomery, even though she is head-over-heels in love with him. She ends up in his arms, but not without retaining her sensibility. It's Crawford's picture all the
way as she struts about in sophisticated fashion.
