This Hecht-MacArthur attempt to produce a satire of pre-Soviet Russian life just didn't stack up. The film is marred by poor photography, unintelligible recording, and other subpar elements of production. Savo was billed as the new Chaplin, but this picture fails to prove he had any comic
talents. It may not have been his fault; he's given nothing to work with here.
