When a hapless gardener cuts himself on a mysterious plant and collapses, he is rushed to the emergency room of County Memorial Hospital, where he suddenly goes into convulsions and vomits up a squiggly larva. Doctors Susan Anspach and Gwynyth Walsh send the disgusting little item down to the lab, where it is cut open to reveal a small insect. Before expert entomologists have a chance to identify the strange creature, a group of mischievous children feed the bug some liquid steroids and it immediately grows to huge proportions. Led by brave police detective Jim Bishop (Steve Railsback), it's up to the humans to defeat the monster. The only attention paid to this film during its brief theatrical release was prompted by its perplexing title, since the monster is not a monkey at all, but a giant entomological hybrid with the head of a wasp, the eyes of a dragonfly, the stomach of a scorpion, the back of various beetles, and the limbs of a praying mantis. leave a comment
