Kruger is a captain of a tuna boat. Rowe is the son who doesn't get along with this thin-lipped, unforgiving father. (Come to think of it, except for one brief moment in SUNDAYS AND CYBELE, has anyone ever seen Hardy Kruger smile?) Rowe wants to prove himself to his father--and when he
gets the chance, he does. That's about it, except for a tiny subplot in which Clark loses her sweetheart (Jarratt) in a sea accident. This was a big hit in Australia but failed to make any noise in the US, despite the universality of the issues and family-oriented problems. Beautifully
photographed, well acted, and sharply edited.
