The irrepressible Andy ("I've never made a film for more than $10,000") Milligan directed this gory and typically cheap retelling of the Sweeney Todd legend. In Victorian London a barber and a baker conspire in a series of brutal murders. Their assistant kidnaps and kills customers, who end up in "meat pies." An unsuspecting salesgirl goes to the police when her boy friend disappears. The plot is revealed, and the film ends with the barber and his assistant hacking each other to death. Bloodier than most of Milligan's efforts. The writer-director-cinematographer squeezed this one in while he was in England filming THE BODY BENEATH and THE RATS ARE COMING!
