Bloodsuckers From Outer Space

1987, Movie, NR, 79 mins

starstarstarstar
An airborne virus from outer space invades a lonely farming community in central Texas and turns the inhabitants into bloodsucking zombies. While scientists at the nearby top-secret laboratory installation known as "Research City" debate what to do about the virus, a crazed Army general (Dennis Letts) wants to drop the atomic bomb on the town. Meanwhile, a young newspaper photographer, Jeff Rhodes (Thom Meyers), and his girl friend, Julie (Laura Ellis), try to escape the increasingly zombified population. Played for laughs, this ultra-low budget production does contain a few funny moments, but it's strictly amateur night in the Lone Star state. With a cast and crew made up of siblings, friends, and neighbors, BLOODSUCKERS FROM OUTER SPACE exudes a certain rural charm as it struggles to generate some laughs from its underdeveloped screenplay. Beneath the halfbaked jokes and amateur production, there seems to be a raw creative sensibility struggling to develop. leave a comment
