Heatherton and her boy friend Coster are out for a drive when they crash into motorcyclist Donahue. She gives him a lift, though he insists on calling her "Barbara" rather than her real name. After arriving home, Heatherton tells her aunt (Nolan) about the stranger, and Nolan explains that Heatherton's great-great grandmother was named Barbara and had an affair with a man named Benjamin Gunther (Donahue's name in the film). Donahue insists that they are reincarnations of the ancestral lovers, and she elopes with him only to discover that Donahue is an escapee from the nuthouse. The film ends with Donahue attempting to strangle would-be rescuer Sullivan and finally falling to his death from atop a tower. It starts off well but MY BLOOD RUNS COLD quickly dribbles off into boredom. Donahue is fair, if a bit laughable, but Heatherton is wholly unbelievable. The direction is ineffectual, with no sense for suspense at all. Director Conrad wisely turned to acting, becoming television's "Cannon." leave a comment
