People keep disappearing on Santa Monica Beach, and local police chief Pearson (John Saxon) wants to find out why. As it turns out, the victims are sucked beneath the sand by a shabby-looking monster, the progeny of a rather uninspired special-effects team. Yet another rip-off of JAWS
(1975), BLOOD BEACH even went so far as to co-opt the advertising campaign for JAWS II ("Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water...") by proclaiming, "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water--you can't get to it." Unfortunately, the film never rises to the
level of its advertising.
