Fresh out of prison, where he's been serving time for murdering his horribly abusive father, 28-year-old Tommy (Frank John Hughes) moves into a halfway house in East Los Angeles, determined to make a real life for himself. His work-release program places him in the cafeteria kitchen of St. Michael's, a parochial school.
