After a series of inept crimes, a trio of crooks buys an old fire engine in hopes of using it as a ruse for making clean getaways. Alas, the crooks have to put out a real fire instead. Finally they hire a scandal-ridden former fire chief (Price) and an arsonist (Morley), who help them
stage a fire in the boutique next to a bank. Some good comic stuff involving the crooks' ineptitude and bad luck, as well as marvelously funny "fire training" scenes, but sequences are stretched out and lose the humor. The cast is terrific, with Morley and Price leading the way. The female roles,
however, are not fleshed out and are a real waste of talent.
