Blaze O' Glory

1930, Movie, NR, 78 mins

Strange film attempts to draw parallels between war and crime in a failed attempt to put soldiers on trial for murder. Musical numbers laced with ethnicity occur in flashback sequences where singing and dancing are inserted between battle scenes for relief. Music is snappy. You see, they were all entertainers before the war commenced. Constant return to courtroom scenes has Whithall delineating the sacrifice these men have made for their country and why they should not be tried for crimes. Performances standard with singing above par, making this an entertaining venture. Songs include: "Welcome Home," "The Doughboy's Lullaby," "Put a Little Salt on the Bluebird's Tail," and "Wrapped in a Red, Red Rose." leave a comment
