A murder mystery based on the Rush Murder Case in the 1800s. This is a film noir, but in color, as director Allegret uses his camera as a palette in an expensive but shallow exercise. Hobson is a governess who marries a wealthy man, then arranges to have the husband knocked off with the help of the young man who takes care of the horses, Granger. There is no one to root for in this picture and the only sympathetic person is the victim. leave a comment
