1984, Movie, PG-13, 85 mins

Tiresome story of rock-'n'-roller Mancuso, forced to take Thames, the son he's never seen, on the road with him when the boy's mother dies. The boy, the product of a long-ago one night stand, has been in a military academy, so the sudden immersion in the world of groupies and the wild life is something of a jolt. Gradually--and predictably--father and son grow on each other. Based on a story cooked up between producer-director Taft and Rolling Stones vocalist Jagger, the movie is little more than a string of maudlin cliches unimaginatively carried off. The most annoying feature, however, is the score, written and performed by Neeley and dubbed by Neeley over Mancuso's lip synching. This is uninvolving at every level, although mercifully brief. leave a comment
