BLACKBEARD'S GHOST is a charming fantasy-comedy in which the ghost of legendary pirate Captain Blackbeard (Peter Ustinov) comes to help some aging damsels in distress. Emily Stowcraft (Elsa Lanchester) and her friends are trying to protect a small resort island from being acquired by a criminal element and turned into a haven for gamblers. Track coach Steve Walker (Dean Jones) finds a witch's book that reveals the secret for summoning Blackbeard from the grave, and shares this information with Emily. Once Blackbeard shows up, special effects abound, but they never detract from the story. It's all good fun, and Ustinov is very amusing as Blackbeard. leave a comment
