A totally misleading title may have made this a flop at the box office because it had a lot to recommend it as a movie. Loren is a widow in a poor New York neighborhood who, quite rightly, blames herself for her gangster husband's death. She wanted material things and the late padrone sought to achieve them for her and was killed. Her son, Baird, is already into the criminal life and confined on a state farm. She meets Quinn, a widower with Balin as his daughter, and they fall in love.
