Black Joy

This film, based on a British play, is one of the few films from England to feature a predominantly black cast. Set in the Brixton sector of London, the story follows the adventures of Thomas, a newly arrived emigre from Guyana. Having been raised in a small village, Thomas is overwhelmed by the sights and sounds that this strange but wonderful city has to offer. Reality soon catches up with him, however, when he finds himself being conned and hustled out of his hard-earned wages.
