1954, Movie, NR, 65 mins

President Abe Lincoln would like to pass the peace pipe with the Sioux Indians so he can transfer troops from the West to the South, where they are needed for Civil War duty. The Rebs hear of this and send a spy, Merrill, to pose as a Yankee and swipe a mess of gold that the Indians have promised to the Northerners. Then we learn that Merrill is not a Reb at all, nor is he a double agent for Lincoln's minions. Instead, he is operating on his own and has no loyalties to either side. An offbeat story handled in an "on-beat" way. Nazarro did a host of these second features and knows his stuff. Hendrix is the daughter of a Southern spy, and good-natured Bromfield, playing her fiance, does his customary solid work. leave a comment
