Classic sleuth Rathbone snoops through thick and thin to uncover the killer of a young man found on an archery range with an arrow through his heart. Three possible suspects are promptly killed, and two others die of presumed heart attacks due to overexcitement. Tension builds around the remaining suspects, an elderly, sly-mannered hunchback, a crazed fanatic, and a fellow in love with the niece of an elderly professor.
