Gary wrote and directed this movie starring his wife, Seberg, as a nymphomaniac. It begins with a bang as she is being pummelled by a group of Peruvians in Carnival gear on a beach. She next moves to a seashore whorehouse and sleeps with Darrieux, an old hooker. Soon enough she's in the arms of several others. Seberg, we now learn, is as nuts as she is nubile, and the picture degenerates into a pyschosexual rambling, with Gary raging unchecked. One can hardly say the name of Seberg without adding "poor" to it. Poor Jean Seberg was a star in her teens in Otto Preminger's SAINT JOAN, then again in the landmark BREATHLESS and several other films, where she began to achieve an honest sort of stardom. Marrying Gary changed her career, and she eventually died in 1979 in questionable circumstances. leave a comment
