A heart-stopping horror melodrama with excellent acting from all involved. Director Argento, here essaying his first film, uses humor, much like Hitchcock, to complement the suspense, but you never feel the master is being ripped off.
Walking home one night, Musante, a Yank scribe in Rome, sees Renzi being murdered in an art gallery. He can't make out the killer's face, but the police decide to garnish his passport, as this is but one of several murders of lone women. Musante cooperates with the police but also conducts his own
investigation, which takes him into the underbelly of the Eternal City.
Memorable characters abound and Storaro's sensational camera...
