An astonishingly amateurish sci-fi horror film, apparently inspired by ALIEN (1979). As part of a government program, psychic Lisa (Angelique Pettyjohn) uses her mental powers to pull objects from other dimensions into this one. Unfortunately, she draws in an alien box, out of which a pint-sized and very hostile extraterrestrial (Chris Ray, write/producer/director Fred Olen Ray's son) emerges. The space creature goes on a rampage, killing everyone who crosses its path, while Lisa and General Randolph (veteran exploitation actor Aldo Ray) try to stop it. This early effort by the prolific Fred Olen Ray has little to recommend it beyond the presence of cult cutie Pettyjohn. Fans of MARK OF THE VAMPIRE (1935) supporting player Caroll Borland — the iconic publicity still of the pale, raven-haired Borland with Bela Lugosi is unforgettable — will not recognize her, but she is here nonetheless, an early example of Ray's fondness for casting faded films legends in his pictures. Ray was one of the executive producers of BIOHAZARD: THE ALIEN FORCE (1995), but to call it a sequel would be a very loose use of the word. leave a comment
