One of the best of the great noir films, with a plot so convoluted it's nearly impossible to summarize. Suffice to say it involves Raymond Chandler's legendary gumshoe Philip Marlowe (Humphrey Bogart), a tough-talking dame (Lauren Bacall) and a murder or two. The dazzling star personas of Bogart and Bacall, combined with the poetry of both Chandler and screenwriter William Faulkner's words and Howard Hawks's direction, result in some of the most sexually charged dialogue ever to scorch the screen.
