Phil Karlson, one of the better action directors around (PHENIX CITY STORY; WALKING TALL), doesn't get much to work with in this outdoor drama about the hunt for a cougar. One sensational fight sequence between Foster and Tucker (almost as good as the Wayne-MacLaglen bout in THE QUIET MAN
and better than the fight in the first remake of THE SPOILERS) stands out, but the rest of the picture leaves much to be desired. Homeier (who had dropped the name Skippy by this time), the child actor who went on to become the millionaire producer of "M*A*S*H" and other TV shows, is wasted, as is
Reynolds.
