The Big Caper

Calhoun and Costa pretend to be a young, ambitious couple who have come to a small town to make a new life for themselves. In truth, they are part of a bank robbery gang led by Gregory. Costa is Gregory's girl and she and Calhoun are tossed together by his mastermind plot. That's his mistake. The two fall for each other and are reformed by the life they pretend to lead. Harris is excellent as a psycho pyromaniac who sets fire to a warehouse and dynamites a school in order to divert attention from the robbery of the small-town bank. Allen plays a muscular oaf not unlike the sadist he portrayed so well in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. Allen went on to become a TV director.
