Nerdy kids, junior jocks and parents looking to temporarily forget the realities of child-rearing can all waste time together watching this inane family picture about sibling rivalry and soccer. For 11-year-old Mitch Dobson (Michael Suchanek), it's not easy living in the shadow of his popular older brother, Sean (Shad Hart), a high school soccer star. In fact, Mitch's favorite hobby is badmouthing his older brother. When all-American teenager Gwen (Lindsey Brooke) moves in next door, Mitch goes gaga, even though Gwen only has eyes for, you guessed it, Sean. While twerpy Mitch pesters "older woman" Gwen for a date, Sean decides to alternate sports practice with a part-time job so he can save money for a used car; Mitch is so jealous that he secretly phones Sean's potential employers and sabotages his chances. But Mr. Oddo (Bo Hopkins), a crooked bookie and donut-seller, isn't bothered by Mitch's lies about Sean's "criminal past;" Oddo is no stranger to breaking the law. When Oddo learns that his new delivery boy is a star soccer player, he concocts a point-shaving scheme to improve his betting odds. Playing on Sean's desire for a car, Oddo proposes he win the big game by a certain number of points. The fundamentally well-raised Sean eventually tries to back out of the deal, but by then Oddo's thugs have kidnapped Gwen to ensure his compliance. And when Oddo kidnaps Sean for reneging, it's up to Mitch and his friends to set things right. This lame-brained comedy's pipsqueak saga of puppy love is profoundly uninteresting, and Michael Suchanek looks so much younger than 11 it seems to be advocating premature sexual fantasies for middle-schoolers.
