Biddy

We've all seen nannies in British films. Sometimes they're mad, as in Jimmy Sangster's THE NANNY (Bette Davis); sometimes they're as befuddled as Miss Prism (Margaret Rutherford) in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST; and sometimes they just wither away and die as in BIDDY. It's a sure bet that very few people will see this film. Made for what looks like just a few shillings, BIDDY details the years between middle age and "we're going to have to put her away." Set in the 19th century, the movie is a sincere effort to depict the way it was. It's obviously been made with great fondness, but the technical attempts are woefully inadequate.
