Bhowani Junction

Somewhat disappointing adaptation of John Masters' novel about a young half-breed woman (Gardner) who comes back to India to find her country bubbling over with anger on the eve of the English leaving for good. Granger, jut-jawed and handsome as ever, is in charge of some troops at Bhowani Junction. His job is to keep leftists from sabotaging the trains. Gardner is apparently in love with Travers, also a half-caste. She kills an Englishman who's trying to assault her and is taken in by the commie chief, Illing.
