It's A Bet

Gerrard is a reporter who gets fired when he writes a story about the police department's inefficiency in finding missing people. He takes a bet from a rival reporter that he can't stay in hiding for a month. The stakes are a new job at the rival paper against his sweepstakes ticket. On his trek his car is stolen and used in a holdup. His picture is in every newspaper. He bounces from village to village, works for a carnival, and meets Chandler, who helps him win his bet. Gerrard gets the job at the newspaper, his sweepstakes ticket wins him $150,000, and he marries Chandler.
