Young Rosa Rubinsky (Regina Baff) elects to pursue a career in professional wrestling, assuming the moniker "The Mexican Spitfire" and getting advice and encouragement from old pro Mildred Burke (a veteran of the sport playing herself). Rosa starts the long climb to the top, heading for a confrontation with Terrible Tommy (Jane O'Brien), the lady wrestling champion. Director Robert Fowler imbues BELOW THE BELT with an engaging documentary-like feel. leave a comment
