This was the third time around for THE BELOVED VAGABOND's story and, hopefully, the last. While they shot this one in English, they were doing the same thing in French, so it had the distinction of being dull in two languages. Chevalier loves his boss's daughter, but when she decides to
marry someone else, he quits his architectural job and goes back to France (which is one of the reasons Chevalier agreed to make the film after being off-screen for three years). Chevalier is traveling with Tester when they meet a gypsy woman (Lockwood) and form a strolling minstrel act with her.
