American Gangster this weekend earned an estimated $46.3 million at the box office to become the best-opening R-rated crime drama in history. Jeers to "N-Bee-C" for its incessant Bee Movie hype. I don't blame Jerry Seinfeld for wanting to promote his first big feature film, but did his former network need to devote so much airtime to his not-so-funny "TV Juniors" shorts? (I'm surprised they didn't get Jerry to host a special edition of The Singing Bee, too.) I can't begin to describe how much I enjoyed the last hour-long episode (on Oct. 18) of The Office. It was dark and bleak and felt slightly surreal, and yet it was probably the most satisfying episode of this season. While it wasn't bust-a-gut hilarious, I truly enjoyed seeing the characters interact with each other in a more human way.
