The Beat Generation

1959, Movie, NR, 95 mins

THE BEAT GENERATION is little more than a title that some executive thought would get the patrons away from the TV sets and into the theatre. Cochran is a cop chasing Danton, a rapist of married women. There is little difference between hero and heavy because Cochran is a rat when he deals with the victims. Danton eventually rapes Cochran's wife, Fay Spain, and when she learns she's pregnant, she doesn't know by whom! Eventually, Cochran gets Danton and sees, through him, the folly of his own misanthropic attitude. Small parts are cast well. Slapsie Maxie Rosenbloom, former light heavyweight champ, is funny as a dumb wrestler. leave a comment
