Imagine the buffed stars of the popular television series in a piece of moving swimsuit calendar art and you have the measure of this television reunion film. After losing his beloved Stephanie (Alexandra Paul) in a freak boating accident several years ago, Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff) heals his broken heart by dating Allison Ford (also Paul), a dead ringer for his deceased sweetheart. The Godfather of lifeguards can't wait to share the news of his engagement with his son, Hobie Buchannon (Jeremy Jackson), and his Southern Californian network of sun worshipers. Delighted with the news, C. J. Parker (Pamela Anderson) offers to throw Mitch a lavish reception on her estate in Hawaii. However, not all the former members of Mitch's water-rescue corps are thrilled by Mitch's whirlwind courtship. While on the set of her soap opera, Baywatcher-turned-actress Caroline Holden (Yasmine Bleeth) gets a distress call from Mitch's one-time girlfriend Neely Capshaw (Gena Lee Nolin); Neely thinks the Allison-clone is too good to be true, and Caroline doesn't disagree. Mitch's other friends placate Caroline and dismiss Neely's reservations as sour grapes. But lo and behold, woman scorned though she is, Neely isn't wrong: Allison is actually an instrument created through plastic surgery on behalf of Mitch's old foe, Mason Sato (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa). By gathering all Mitch's dearly beloved at one Hawaiian wedding ceremony, Mason can kill whomever he chooses. Sato ties two wedding guests to the shore at high tide, sinks two others in a bathysphere and traps two others in a cove — how can Mitch rescue six people at once? But Mason and Allison have underestimated the pluckiness of Mitch and his surfside pals. Part sandy adventure and part parade of pulchritude, this slight diversion rests entirely on the remarkable physical condition of the scantily clad cast-mates. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
