Van Cleef, an honorable ferry operator, and Tucker, a grizzled mountain man, defend a budding border settlement from the absolutely evil Oates and his gang. Oates is terrific as the psychopathic outlaw who destroys everything in his path. The film becomes a battle of wits between Oates and Van Cleef as each decides how to get rid of the other. Bloody oater owes much to the spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone. Not bad if you can take the intensity. leave a comment
