Barocco

1976, Movie, NR, 102 mins

Pretentious film made by a former film critic. Depardieu plays two parts, neither of them very well. Adjani seems limited to two expressions in the film, a smile and a whine. Pisier is the standard whore with a heart of gold, and Brialy is wasted. Techine must have had something in mind when he wrote the script with Goldin. Perhaps there is an homage to the German films of the 1930s or the American film noir movies. Whatever point is, we missed it. All that comes across is a flabby love story set against a confusing crime background. leave a comment
