1967, Movie, NR, 104 mins

A first for both screenwriter Neil Simon — who, up to this point, wrote only for the stage — and Gene Saks, a successful theater director who here makes an impressive motion-picture directorial debut. Robert Redford and Jane Fonda live in a cramped fifth-floor walk-up in Greenwich Village. She thinks their place is great, but he, ever the conservative attorney, hates it. Charles Boyer plays the slightly zany, womanizing upstairs neighbor whom Fonda fixes up with her stodgy mother (Mildred Natwick). Read the complete review for Barefoot In The Park
