Barbary Coast Gent

Set in the 1880s, Beery stars as a conman who is run out of San Francisco's Barbary Coast and heads for Nevada's gold rush where he is welcomed as a big financier. He discovers an actual gold mine and is forced to sell shares to the locals. When ex-partners Carradine and Ankrum show up to grab his payroll, Beery becomes a Robin Hood thief, stealing to save the local mine. Once caught, he becomes the first prisoner in the jail he helped to build.
