A happy tale of a young couple, McCrea and Stanwyck, who get married, but before they can get things going, McCrea has a battle with Kilian (the villain) and thinks that he's killed him so he takes it on the lam up the Mississippi. Kilian lives and further complications arise when Stanwyck runs off to New Orleans with Catlett, a skirt-chasing lowlife photographer.
