In 1976 a sophisticated outlaw (Yanne) enjoys a moment of serenity on his family estate as he teaches his small daughter (Marie-Sophie Lelouch) and a close family friend (Bruel) the refined art of fishing. When they return to Yanne's mansion, a television newscaster is bemoaning the passing of actor Gabin, whose death, he feels, will bring about the decline of the gangster film. The subsequent announcement of a robbery at Cartier's famed jewelry store is seemingly ignored by the family in the wake of the great actor's demise.
