This minor Italian Neo-Realist film stars Nazzari as a disillusioned soldier who becomes a crime chieftain to survive in postwar Italy. Only his love for his companion's small daughter keeps him in touch with the feelings he had before the war. Magnani is good as Nazzari's girl friend.
