A gang of con artists led by Belmondo and Moreau slowly weave a web to trap greedy millionaire Frobe. Director Marcel Ophuls (son of the great Max Ophuls) presents a breezy, often witty film that confuses the characters as much as the viewer, an intentional ploy designed to show avarice
taking over the gang, with everyone stealing from everyone else. It becomes impossible to tell the crooks from the straights, but it's still fun. (In French; English subtitles.)
