This intriguing tale of a woman who goes through life in the Wild West disguised as a man turns gender roles upside down and coolly subverts the traditionally macho Western. Suzy Amis stars as an unmarried 19th century New Yorker who's thrown out of her father's house after she gives birth to a son. She travels west, and when she's nearly sold into prostitution she dons men's clothes, cuts her hair and slashes her face, choosing to thereafter pass as a man.
