A typical Arabian Nights story with gorgeous Maureen O'Hara as the daughter of a sheik. She returns from England to find her daddy dead, his followers gone, and his money missing. Christian, leader of a group called The Black Riders, is blamed for the dastardly deed, though Price is the rotter who lurks behind the action. Christian, who is also known as Paul Hubschmid in Europe, did not impress in his American debut, but he did go on to do some good work in FUNERAL IN BERLIN; SKULLDUGGERY, and others. Good technical credits and a slightly confused script from Andrews pull at each other. It's almost, but not quite, a spoof of the genre. O'Hara sings three songs written by Frank Skinner and Jack Brooks and does a nice job; they include the title song, "Love is Strange," and "Song of the Desert." leave a comment
