Samurai capitalism. One of Akira Kurosawa's most obviously political films, this is a prophetic indictment of Japan's cutthroat, feudalistic approach to business. The great Toshiro Mifune stars as a fast-rising young executive about to marry the daughter (Kyoko Kagawa) of the firm's president (Masayuki Mori). This corporate climber, however, is in reality something of a modern-day samurai who has adopted a new identity in order to avenge the death of his father.
