The Bad News Bears: Review

As amusing for adults as it is for children, this charming, funny film takes a gentle poke at Little League baseball and its obsession with winning. Walter Matthau, in a comic tour de force, stars as a one-time minor leaguer who becomes the manager of the Bears, a team of multiracial Little League rejects in a Southern California. With his help this hapless, foul-mouthed bunch, led by its star female hurler (Tatum O'Neal), begins winning ball games, although the priorities of the players begin to take a disappointing turn in the process.
